    Convert pdf data to table

I have a long list of data in one column, without headers but with addresses and company names which has downloaded from a pdf.

However, the data is not in regular numbers of rows, ie, the first section is 12 rows, then the next is 15, etc, because it may have an extra email address in there or something. Is there a way to move these into a useable database? The last row always starts with the word "activity", although the length varies.

    Many thanks for any advice.

    plumfin,

Can we see the workbook containing the downloaded data from the pdf?

To attach the workbook, scroll down and click on the Go Advanced button, then scroll down and click on the Manage Attachments button.

    plumfin,

    Detach/open workbook ReorgData - Convert pdf data to table - plumfin - EF760146 - SDG15.xlsm.

There seems to be a pattern to the groups of data (see Yellow alternating Green).

Are the headings/titles and their order, what you are looking for?

If not, then please change/move them around.

And, are all the titles accounted for?

Hi Stan, that is exactly what I am after, without the time of going through and highlighting each section. Is there anyway to get excel to split this into a database-type document, for easy mail merge?

Do mean the titles, that each section has each title? In that case, no - some of the entries are 10 rows, for example, some may have a little extra detail and may be 14. Sorry - if this is not possible, please don't spend your time on it! Many thanks though so far.

What is the structure, with titles, for your database-type document?

Once we have the structure for your database-type document, do you want the data on another worksheet, say worksheet Results?

The data groups are only colored Yellow and Green as a reference to understanding your requirements.

Are the titles in range R1:O1 correct?
    1. the right order
    2. the correct number of titles
    3. Do you need to add/subtract any titles?

Re: Convert pdf data to table

Sorry Stan, I misunderstood. Yes, the data you have extracted to the rows is the right titles, none missing, all ok. A new worksheet called Results would be good, to keep the 2 separate. Do you need anything else from me on the structure? The test data looks spot on, thanks.

    plumfin,

The more I work on your raw data, the more confusing I get.

There is no logic for how the raw data is presented, and what title fields the data goes in.

I have exceeded the normal amount of time I allocate for solving problems/requests from web sites like ExcelForum.com.

Please click on the New Post button, and just enter the word BUMP, then click on the Submit Reply button, and someone else will assist you.
