Totaling staff in training

Hi hoping someone can help or point me in the right direction?

I have a table showing the number of staff starting training in that week and the number that are finishing training in that week.

What I would like to determine is the total staff in training for the week?

My difficulty lies in how my table is structured, unfortunately I can’t change it’s structure as..work thing.

I've attached a file showing an example of the table and how the staff total needs to look.

I've tried using indexes amd matches and lookups, but I think all I've achieved is to confuse myself

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
