One click access to date format for a cell?

Whenever I need to add a date format to a cell I have to right click to go to the format cells menu and then select Date and then finally date format. Can there be a way to get around clicking through all options to format a cell using a specific date specification? I would love to know if there's a way to put a date format onto a button so I can simply click the button for one click access to changing the cell's date format when I need it. Can this be done? Thanks in advance.

    Try Ctrl+Shift+#
Entia non sunt multiplicanda sine necessitate

Nothing happens when I try this combination. However if I simply enter 2/1 into a cell I get 1-Feb.
