    Conditional Formatting NOT applied IF another cell has a "Y"

    Hi all,

    im an excel newbie and i need some help please

    i learnt how to use conidtional formatting to highlight a cell if a deadline is appraching (ie cell turns RED if deadline is 30 days from today)

    However, i would like for conditional formatting to no be applied if a another cell has a "Y"

    intention is to put a "y" in a corresponding cell if the work has been completed and the deadline no longer applies.

    Attached excel file
    A5 = today
    F8 = this cell turns colour depending on how close to the deadline present day becomes
    G8 = This is where i need help, if G8 has a "Y" value, i would like conditional formatting to NOT be applied

    Please help
