Got a Nomotion at work...excel forced on me, deadline Friday

    Fellas, I'm in big trouble.

I received a nomotion (promotion with no pay increase, but a job title promotion and more work) and I was given an important task for work yesterday.

This thing has me losing sleep and i'm very worried i'm going to embarrass the heck out of myself.

I'm basically 50% excel oriented from now on, in terms of job requests and day to day tasks. I promise to get better, and do my homework and read up, but right now, time has me severely handicapped and looking for a solution.

To the point, i'm no excel buff, not even close. I can come up with something decent. Such as calculating certain cells and you know, putting it together to look decent, but what they're asking of me seems to pro for me.

So i'm asking for some help, I have to calculate certain measurements from October 16th, weekly after that until the end of 2010. This data changes from week to week and Engineers need to see at what point our 'objects/projects' start eroding.

Basically, anything above a 10% (#'s typically around 2 to 6) measurement = bad, and that begins to happen around early november. Numbers get worse as weeks go by.

I have my details and months and objects tested jotted down, .....but after that, well, how the heck can I even create something that shows a person an erosion in weekly fashion, pinpointing and showing the person seeing the spread sheet where the problem begins...

Sorry for the long read. Thanks in advance guys.

dude - why dont you upload a spreadsheet demonstrating the layout and type of data you have and give a clear description of what you want to achieve and where it should go based on what cells.

as it stands your post is too ambiguous.

Your role is now 50% excel - gotta get with it!!

Good point, I'll upload one tommorow morning (at home) as all my spreadsheets are at work.

It sucks that I'm given this task, but i'm just grateful I even have a job at this point, so I need to just weather this storm and come up with something fast that doesn't make me look like a clown. lol

Your post does not comply with Rule 1 of our Forum RULES. Your post title should accurately and concisely describe your problem, not your anticipated solution. If you have 10 or more posts, expect your post to be locked, so you can start a new thread with an appropriate title.
