    sort messing up second workbook

Hi, Ive got a workbook with all our products in it, including product code. It has currently been sorted alphabetically on product name. then I linked the info to a stocktake work book using this code.

The problem I've got with this is that I can't sort on the product list without it causing problems on the stocktake workbook.

I take it you can't sort something and it change the line numbers on the first sheet then it would n't mess anything up on the other workbook

    Hope I made sense

    Hi benjii19

Are there VLookup functions on the second sheet? VLookup needs an alphabetic sort to do it's work if you use the True as the last argument.
One test is worth a thousand opinions.

In the $A80 part of your equation. Is the formula below it say $A81? Is it looking at the other sheet relative to what cell the formula is in? If you sort the first sheet does the 80 and 81 stay the same or change after the sort?

Does this make sense? Am I asking the correct questions? If not you need to attach a sample so we can understand the problem better. Click on the "Go Advanced" below the message area and then on the Paper Clip Icon above the message area to attach a sample file.

    CELL A80 FROM PRODUCT WORKBOOK

That is basically how it references from my product workbook, however that formulae isn't necessarily on the same cells in the stocktake workbook. when sorted on the Product workbook this changes the order on stocktake workbook. WHich ideally I don't want to happen

I guess I haven't stumbled on this problem myself before. I'm going to need a sample workbook or two to see what is happening. My assumption is that the relative referencing of the cells is doing something different than you are expecting. If you supply a sample, please also discribe what you expect.

Click on the "Go Advanced" below the message area and then on the Paper Clip Icon above the message area to attach a sample file.
