Replace all occurences of a string with another

I need to generate a second column from value of the first column. The value in the first column is like this "IDS1577701<!>IDS1577702<!>IDS1577703". The value I want in the second column is "IDS1577701XX<!>IDS1577702XX<!>IDS1577703XX".
I'm a newbie using excel and I'm not know much about combination of formula but I think this can be done using excel function and not need VS script (which I don't know either ). Does anyone ave any suggestion for this?

    Thanks in advance
