Format and Sort Grouped Data in Excel

Hi I was wondering if anyone could help me. I have to complete a project in work tomorrow and it involves taking data which was exported from Sage and formatting it and sorting in excel. Now there is around 1000 rows of data and I need to firstly sort the data by customer so that I basically have a list of customers and their respective totals, and then I can press the plus button (ungroup) to show a list of all the transactions which make up this total.

The problem is I have to sort the data, firstly by customer name and then from largest to smallest. But how do I sort the group titles without affecting the order of the grouped data?

I had a look at this response to a question a while back but I can't figure out how the formula works or how it would transfer to my database? http://www.excelforum.com/excel-gene...ipulation.html

Anyone know of a solution? Surely there is a simple way to sort the grouped summary data without affecting the grouped transactions?

    loguie668,

    Welcome to the Excel Forum.

To get the most precise answer, it is best to upload/attach a sample workbook (sensitive data scrubbed/removed) that contains an example of your raw data on one worksheet, and on another worksheet your desired results.

The structure and data types of the sample workbook must exactly duplicate the real workbook. Include a clear and explicit explanation of your requirements.

To attach your workbook, scroll down and click on the Go Advanced button, then scroll down and click on the Manage Attachments button.
    Have a great day,
