    user permissions

    Hello,

I have a movie collection on my pc which I share with my housemates by using a homegroup.
This is all going nicely but recently I've been working on a Excel workbook which lists all of my movies with corresponding genre, cast and more.
This worksheet contains macro's which don't work in read-only mode.

Now I want my housemates to be able to use this worksheet with macro's enabled. But I don't want them to have the permission to change anything, or deleting the workbook.
Ofcourse I do want to be able to edit the same workbook myself.

I know I can set the permissions of the file in the properties of it. But there is no user called homegroup, so currently I use the user 'Everybody' for setting the permissions of my housemates, ofcourse these permissions apply for myself as well.

Could anyone help me setting this up correctly?

Password protect the sheets and workbook.

Go to the "Review" tab on the ribbon.

thanks! this works indeed, partially at least..
other users are still able to completely delete the file, but I guess I'll just need to trust my housemates in this case :P

    Re: user permissions

You could mark the file as "Read only" (right-click on the file, select "Properties" and select the "Read Only" box and click "Ok"). You would have to make sure that the regular user account(s) do not have the permissions to undo this, though.

Why don't the macros work in read only?
    Hope that helps.
