Question How to flip row order

I use online banking and keep my check registers in an Excel 2007 s/sheet. Unfortunately, the information I copy from my online bank statement is newest to oldest.

When I paste this into Excel, I need to flip the order of oldest to newest and a data sort doesn't work as their may be multiple entries of the same date.

I found a way to do this long ago in 2003, but cannot figure out how in 2007 to save my life.

    Any ideas?

Why can't you just sort by date? If the dates of two transactions are the same, does the order matter?

You could add a column numbered 1, 2, 3, ..., and then sort descending on that column.

Well, I'm kinda OCD lol, I'd like for it to be in the exact order as it arrived to the bank.

More so than anything, for any other application, I would like to know how to reverse the order of rows. It doesn't seem to be too much to ask of such a feature driven program.

Then you can use the method I suggested.

    Hi

I imagine, from what you are saying, that in the date column, the banks omits the data for additional checks on the same date.

That being the case, you could insert a column before your data column, as in the attached workbook, and use a formula in cell A2 like

Copy that down and use that as the sort column.

I'm not exactly sure how to use =if statements.

I think I'm not being clear...but using the bank statement example is the best way I can describe it. Many rows of info...many on the same date. I don't want to sorty by date, I just want to change the order of the rows regardless of any data.

    IE
    I have a sheet with rows 1 through 50

I want row 50 to be row 1
row 49 to be row 2....etc

1)Number the rows in a seperate column.
2)Sort decending by that column of numbers.
    3)Delete the numbered column.

....now all of your data is exactly reversed from when you started.

Fabulous! What was throwing me off in 2007 was trying to find a "sort dialogue" ...so I finally found, for lack of a better way of expressing it...the sort icon. Once I found that, I could follow your instructions easily, there was a largest to smallest selection for my "list" column even.

    Thanks a lot.
