How can I add numbers in a column if they have USD in front of the numbers? The only way I have figured out how to do this is to go through and delete the USD out of every column.

Welcome to the forum.
Easiest would be to select the column and replace USD with nothing. Then they're just plain numbers.
Entia non sunt multiplicanda sine necessitate
Im sorry I should have been more clear. I am copy and pasting the numbers off a website and there is no way to copy just the numbers. So inside the cells its shows up USD 1,400. I need to add all the cells together to get the total but I can't with USD in front. Is there a formula or something to add just the numbers?
can you post an example xls file with a few numbers formatted the same way you receive them?

In the above example, the formulas return: 111,111
Is that something you can work with?

whoops, I read to quickly....shg's suggestion is to use Find and Replace "after" you have the numbers copied to your worksheet. He suggests that you paste your numbers in a column, then find and replace USD with "" then your will have nothing but numbers left in the column.
Ummmm, why is this in the Tips & Tutorials Forum?????
