Hi, when I started using Excel about a month ago, I started designing spreadsheets for viewability, according to my boss's demands. Without automation of any of the processes which make it viewable, this has become nightmarish! I knew of a few formulas which automatically alter the data, which I tinkered with a long time ago, and thought there should be some formulas which would operate similarly on row, column, and cell formatting (row height, color, border...), but I'm finding no easy solution for these comparable to the simple formulas which alter cell data. My spreadsheets look good and useable for anyone who needs them in the field, but I'm spending almost as much time making them so as I am entering the data. Can anyone help?
What I need:
A formula or macro which can take all of the entirely blank lines in a selection (or entire worksheet(s) or document) and reduce their height so that a short gap is left between lines and variant groups of lines which contain data.
If this can be done, another thing which would help a lot would be something to format the cell borders in selected columns - for greater emphasis than is available with Excel border styles, I also highlight and select a heavy border for the bottom and top of these blank lines, and I just can't go on doing one of these at a time!
Please help if you can. Thanks in advance.
