    If function, then Concatenate

    Hi all,

    Senario:
Is there a formula that will do the following?

Please refer to excel example attached!

If the cell length of A2 is less than or equal to 4 characters in length, then, in column B grab value of A2 and value of D2 and concatenate together as per example in K2.

Then, if -FM as in A3 already exists, just copy A3 value over to B3.

The values that are 6 characters long leave as they are such as in A5, just copy them over to column b.

    I hope that makes sense!!

I have =if function, but I have not been successful to make work.

    Thanks

    Try:

    =IF(LEN(A2)=4,A2&"-"&D2,A2)
Where there is a will there are many ways.

    Flafferty,

This is doing what I want, thanks for the quick reply!!!

I have noticed, I have a couple of extra items in column A that I need to filter out and not add "-FM" on the end, that is "-" straight dash and the word "New", how do I filter these out?

    Thanks
