Find Matching Value based on multiple criteria

I am tearing my hair out here, I have looked at various prior threads and have succeded in confusing myself.

For each material I need to find the applicable value for that characteristic and arrange the data horizontally and not vertically as per my source data.

The value I get is based on two criteria i.e. the material and the characteristic name.

Please help, anyone???

assuming that your data will comprise more than one material number, the following formula will work as long as your data is sorted by material number in ascending order.

=INDEX($C$2:$C$25,MATCH($E2&F$1,INDEX($A$2:$A$25&$B$2:$B$25,0),0))

Start in F2, copy across and down. See attached sample with two material numbers in the source data. Adjust the ranges in the formula to match the number of rows in your source data.
