Excel 2007 : SUMIF error when using data from drop down list

Hello there,

I am currently working on summarising sales figures by Regions. The problem is that the Regions are selected via a drop down menu. SUMIF doens't seem to be able to identify the different regions and the result is always 0.

Columns A4:A162 are a list of towns. Columns B4:B162 are the Regions that the towns belong to. The relevant Region can be selected via drop-down menu. M4:M162 are the sales per town.

The formula =SUMIF(Workings!B4:D162,"Auckland Region",Workings!M4:M162) always results in 0.

Any help would be appreciated.

P.S. I tried a test where type the regions in manually and it worked, but would be great to solve the issue without having to do it manually.

(should be "B") and doesn't fix the problem, then could you attach a sample spreadsheet?
