    Utilization Percentage

In Excel, I'm trying to calculate the percentage of each hour of the day captured by a surgery. For example, if a surgery went from 730am-900am, how do I show that 50% of the 7am-8am hour was used, and that 100% of the 8am-9am hour was used?

Thank you - I keep getting 0% for all the values. Should the cells be in a certain format for this calculation to work?

Format doesn't matter, but the times need to be either all pure times (no date) or consistent (same date).

I converted the times to minutes by *1440, but I would love to know if there is a easier way to do this!

    Re: Utilization Percentage

Thank you - I understand the need for all the times to be in the same format. Unfortunately, my "time in" field has the date and time already in it (ex: 3/1/11 7:30). How do I either create a new column or change the format of this on to only read the time? I've tried to just change the format, and it displays the time only, but still refers back to the date.

If you have a date and time in A1, then =MOD(A1, 1) returns hust the time component.
