Convert Decimal Feet to Feet and Inches

Hello, I am currently working on cut sheets for my current project. I need to take my decimal feet (ie 1.55) and display them as feet and inches (1' 6 5/8") not (1' 6 3/5") i have a formula which is this=INT(F17)&"' "&TEXT(12*(F17-INT(F17)),"# #/#")&CHAR(34), It works but the problem is the fractional inches 6 3/5" i need them to display in 1/8 1/4 1/2 when applicable. Is there something i could add to this formula to make my inches read like a measuring tape (1' 6 5/8") 1/8 1/4 1/2??? I attached the spreedsheet for review thanks!

I found something here that may work for you.

    Using this formula:

You can get closest fractions to the actual numbers in 16ths of an inch....

You can probably work it so it goes to 32nds... or the other way to 8ths...
Where there is a will there are many ways.

Re: Convert Decimal Feet to Feet and Inches

That doesn't give me the right results NBVC, for example it gives this result for 1.55

    1' 1 9/16

My suggestion is to round the original amount to the nearest 8th of an inch and then format appropriately. This formula will do that

    =INT(MROUND(A1,1/96))&"' "&TEXT(12*MOD(MROUND(A1,1/96),1),"# #/#")&CHAR(34)

That will give the required result for 1.55 and all other results will be rounded to the nearest 8th of an inch....

Re: Convert Decimal Feet to Feet and Inches

Thank you for this formula for results to the nearest 1/8th of an inch,

I have played around with it and I think i am correct in saying,

to give results to the nearest 1/16th of an inch you can use the following formula:

    =INT(MROUND(A1,1/96))&"' "&TEXT(12*MOD(MROUND(A1,1/192),1),"# #/##")&CHAR(34)

Re: Convert Decimal Feet to Feet and Inches

    =int(mround(a1,1/192)) & text(12*mod(mround(a1,1/192),1),"' # #/##") & """"
