    Sorting columns without including headings

    Hello,

How can I sort columns alphabetically without including the headings in the sort? Also, when I sort them, will the data in the the rows be included as well? (See attached)

Is there a way to sort the columns by number and have each of the rows dragged along?

Thanks for the help and direction!

    Cheers,

    Dave

The general rule is not to have any blank rows or columns in your data as this will confuse Excel when it comes to sorting etc. Rather than having a blank row in row 2 make the border to row 1 thicker.

    Hey Dom,

    Thanks for the advice...

If I sort 1 column, will the info in the row be sorted as well? What about sorting by a numerical value?

    Cheers,

    Dave

Re: Sorting columns without including headings

If you highlight a single column and try and sort it Excel will normally give you a warning that you have not selected the entire contiguous range of data and ask you if you want to expand the selection. You then have a choice as to whether to just sort the selected column or expand the range to include the other columns around it. Again this will probably be effected by blanks rows or columns.
