I am noticing that in excel 2010, when I close the excel file, when I have a worksheet, using the "X", a secondary excel workbook is open, or is in the background thus I would have to close the excel file twice. does anyone know where if there is an option that addresses this issue?

The behavior you're describing is because Excel is opening with hidden workbooks (usually the Personal.xls workbook). Check if you have any files in:
C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Application Data\Microsoft\Excel\XLSTART
If you do, just move them out of that folder (or delete them). If you use the personal workbook, then what you're experiencing is normal behavior.

I do have a hidden personnel workbook that contain my macros that am constantly using, in the past this was not the problem. Is there another way to address this.
