    Count Formula based on text

    Hi All,

I have been trying to write a formuale but just cant seem to get it right.

Basically i have a table where there are names in ColumnA then Columns B&C have depts worked and in the next 15 is duties that need to be completed based on thier dept.

EG: In someone is in GM & SER, they are required to do Bales & Manual. I want the sheet to put a 1 in the duties coloum so i am able to work out how many staff are required to do what task.

I was thinking a nested CountIF, but when i start putting in more than one condition it goes to TRUE/FALSE when i need it to be 1 or 0.

I have attached a smaller verison of what im trying to make.

    Hi

Try entering in column G and Column I
    =IF(AND($C8="GM",$D8="SER"),1,"")

With regards to the depts there are also Admin, replen, App that the person could possibly work in.

Staff could either work in just one dept or they could work in 2 with varing combinations

    ie:
    App & Ser
    Rep & Admin
    Admin & Ser
    etc....

I cant seem to get the supplied formula to work any help would be appreciated!

All you asked for was the above.
The formula I supplied addresses this issue.

Can you explain exactly what it is you are wanting to do?
What combinations do require an entry in the various columns.
