vlookup in two or more columns

    Hello everyone,

I need your help. Im trying to create a formula that where the user will have 2 options:

    1- enter sku number
    2- enter barcode

    desire results:

    1. product description
    2. product cost
    3. product retail price

I was able to get this information to work using only one option but I'm stuck. I can't seem to find a way to get the desire results to work using both search fields. it works when i enter the sku number but if sku number is blank then I get nothing.

this is a small sample of database (see attached xls.file)

would really appreciate your help with this.
P.S. i want the user to have the option to use sku or barcode and get same information

    Thanks in advance.

If you have one cell for SKU and one cell for Barcode then it shouldn't be a problem as long as they're not using the same VLOOKUP code (obviously the index number criteria for the formulas would be different due to positioning). I don't understand what your problem is. If there's no matching SKU for a product then it shouldn't come up with anything and then the user will have to use a barcode search.

I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for but I gave it a shot.

    Hi Jocote46,

I did a problem a few days ago that may fit your needs. It was Classes and Students. If this was expanded to 4 columns, would it fit your needs?

    See attached.

    Xer,

Actually, what I was looking for was to have the two search fields (sku and barcode) but only one output , so I was trying to develop a formula that would accomplish that. in your sample you have to output: one for sku and one for barcodes. any suggestions?
