    Creating rule in Excel

    I wish to create a column 'C' on my spreadsheet that follows the below rule:

    If the selected row in column 'A' begins with text 'CLRL' populate that row in column 'C' with '1'. Else populate column 'C' in that row with '0'.

    Can anybody please advise how to do this? I used Excel a great deal in the past but after 3 years away from it I seem to have forgotten everything.

    In column C on your first data row (say row 2), put the formula:

    Please Login or Register  to view this content.

    And then copy that all the way down your sheet.

    You might also need the UPPER and TRIM functions, depending on how clean the data in column A is.
