instantly updating graphs in a powerpoint or word doc through excel

hi, im hoping that my question is a simply one to answer....basically when i update the tables in my excel file to make new graphs i would like my powerpoint and word documents to be instantly updated, so that when i come to open my word or powerpoints that the presentations are automatically updated and ready to present

could anyone help me with this please......

i have attached small examples of the graphics and tables which i would like to automatically update in the power point and word files.....unfortunately it wont allow me to upload a powerpoint file but i have put a simple word file there instead

any help would be great

Should be fairly easy.

For charts, simply select the chart in Excel, hit copy (CTRL-C), then toggle to PowerPoint, right click, and hit paste. For tables,select the range, hit copy, then, when you toggle into PowerPoint, use PasteSpecial, select the Paste Link option, and hit ENTER. Both will then automatically update when you make a change in the Excel data.

It's of course much faster if the excel file is open, but if it's not PowerPoint should prompt you if you want to update the links when you first open the presentation.

hey bently bob, it didnt work

i have 2 options

paste special which has 5 further options

1) microsofe excel sheet object
2) picture
3) PDF
4) Formatted text (RTF)
5) Unformatted text

or there is another button labelled - paste hyperlink

could you help further please

I'm hoping the chart approach worked for you and it's the table approach that doesn't. Unfortunately, I have Office 2007 both at home and at work, so can't see what you're seeing (no Paste Link option). Did you try the Excel sheet object option?

I will try to find a copy of 2003, but maybe there's someone else out there who can help.
