compare two files and return missing cell contents

Hi Everyone,

I need to ask for your expertise again...

In the attached file there are three registers. I would like to have the third register - "total" to basically list all parts from register "August" and "September" and list the volumes for August and September in the column C and D as well.

Thank you omletto. This is great and it works. This data does not have many part numbers. My file where I would like to use it for has hundreds of part numbers.

I would like Excel to go to the first register, return the part number in the third register then go and see which part numbers are not included in the second register. The part numbers that are missing in the second register should be added to the third register. It can also go the other way: second register first then the first one – via versa – I am trying to find out how to combine those two.

I would then go and do the vlookup for the volumes manually but my main problem is to have all part numbers from the first and second tab listed in the third tab without duplicating them.

I am sure could copy both lists into the total tab and then remove the duplicates but I was hoping to find a smart formula for this....
