If both B4 and D4 are blank write 'this' if either B4 or D4 have values concatenate

    Hello,

I'm trying to complete the following

"If both B4 and D4 are blank write 'this' if either B4 or D4 have values concatenate the values with a pipe separator"

    Any help greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

    Hi Colin,

    Thanks for your reply.

I've tried your formula - the 'ISBLANK' part is leaving the cell with a | when B4 and D4 are empty. When B4 and D4 are populated it's working well...

    Hi,

Then I suspect that B4 and D4 are not truly empty... do you have formulae in those cells which return a null string? If so, try this instead:

    You suspect correctly

Sorry for not spelling that out, the above formula works perfect.

    Many thanks
