Hello,

I have a list of products in column L.

In column P I am repeating the product name if it is calculated to be oversubscribed.

I'm finding a way to ration the oversubscribed ones.

In column Q I have a =rand() value

In column R I want to rank the =rand() values, but I want a separate ranking depending on what is in P.

Ie, P might have 10 null values, 5 "Cakes" and 4 "Biscuits". I want column R to have a 10 nulls, a 1->5 ranking for the cakes and a 1->4 ranking for the biscuits.

Any ideas?

Thanks Zbor. I've tweaked it slightly to remove the nulls, just going to rank everything even if it's not oversubscribed.

Demo attached. Grateful if you could advise on a suitable formula for Col N.
