    Sort by 9th Character

Wonder if anyone can help me...

I have been supplied with a load of jpgs.. I have imported my folder contents into excel.

    and it looks like this

    /Work/ITV_Sport/RWC_2011/STILLS/PNGs/HEAD_SHOTS/USA_high_res/PNG_no_background/12484_USA_MMacDonald_nbg.png

I would really like to put these in surname alphabetical order..

however the surname is the 91st charachter

does anyone have any idea how to do this..

I'm not even sure I can use a macro as I am using this on a mac ??

any help would be greatley appreciated

    cheers

    Alex

    Hello Alex,

If your data is in A2 down try this formula in B2 copied down to extract the surname

    =MID(A2,91,FIND("_",A2,91)-91)

Now you can select both columns and sort using column B
    Audere est facere
