Excel 2007 : Making the cells change colour depending on the date

I have a spreadsheet with cells containing information such as 'posted 1/9 expires 30/9'

I have worked out how to make the cell change colour once the date has passed however as there are 2 dates in the box it takes both into consideration. I need the cell to change colour only when the 'expires' date has passed. Is this possible?

You should have one date in each cell

suppose your expiry date is in cell B2, in conditional formating, try

=AND(ISNUMBER(B2),TODAY()-B2>0) and formate

and apply formate on all column
