    Comparing Columns and conditional formatting

    Hi

I need some help.....my knowledge on excel is not very great.

I have a list of students with their school target grades (A, B ,C D E ..) in one column.
    In the next column I have their current performance grades (A B C D E ..)

If their current performance grades are below their school target grade then the students name in column A should get highlighted (eg, Target grade B, performance grade C, then students name should highlight in red say).

Is there any way to do this???

Any help will be really appreciated.

    Re: Excel Help

I would use a numerical substitute for the letter grade, ie. A=5, B=4, C=3, D=2 and E=1. You can then make a mathematical comparison using an =IF statement in conditional formatting.
