how to subtract dates that are not null

Hi there I am subtracting todays date with date past due to get number of days past due... only problme is that some fields in the date past due or empty so i get today's date as a number format returned.

I would only like to subtract today's date with date past due if the cell is not null... don't know how i could go about it since excel does not have any subtraction functions...

Assuming dates are in the A column starting at A1

Also, make sure you format your column containing the formula as a date or it will display a number.
