Assuming list is in A1:A8 try:
=SUMPRODUCT((A1:A8<>"")/COUNTIF(A1:A8,A1:A8&""))

Try following array formula ( commit with Ctrl+Shift+Enter)
=SUM(IF(MATCH(List1, List1, 0)>=(ROW(List1)-MIN(ROW(List1))+1), 1, 0))
where List1 is your range
