Question Edit links, Source location keeps changing - Help

    Hello,

I am using two source workbooks to provide data for one viewing workbook just with linked references. The viewing workbook has some code in it to update values every two minutes, and the viewing workbook is constantly open on a presentation machine. The workbooks are kept on a server and the viewing workbook is not open on the same machine as the source workbooks.

The problem I've seen a couple of times is that on the Data tab, in edit links, the Locations of the links are changing slightly. The change looks like this "Location: \\server\tech\ads changes to Location: \\server\tech\tech\ads". So for some reason the Location name is adding a folder twice, and that makes the link no longer work. It's happened twice in two weeks, and I'm not aware of any other event happening at the same time that might be related.

Any ideas as to the cause and solution to this? Much appreciated, thanks.

I am having exactly the same problem - it's a real pain! At this stage, I can find no repeatable pattern to when this occurs.

If anyone has a solution or explanation, I would really appreciate a reply.

    Thanks

Update: I just found this link in The Microsoft Excel Support Team Blog relating to Microsoft Security Bulletin MS11-072 released in September:-

    http://blogs.technet.com/b/the_micro...-ms11-072.aspx

This states that this is a known problem and Microsoft are working on it - no timeframe at this stage but a hotfix will be released asap.
