    Preserving external links while moving excel files

    Hello,

    I have to clean up our server, which will entail moving many, many files. I can see that there are external links in the excel files. Is there a way to preserver those links when the files are moved to the new locations?

    Welcome to the Forum!

    External links are relative. This isn't obvious because Excel will show you the entire pathname in the reference. But if you move both the referencing file and the referenced file to the same relative location (you move the entire directory from one server to another), everything will still work fine.
