    Question Grouping in Pivot Tables

I have 2 pivot tables on 2 separate tabs based on the same data. They both have the date as the row labels, but have different column labels. In one of the pivot tables I would like to group the rows into week buckets, but when I do that, the 2nd pivot table also groups the dates by week. Does anyone know of a way to do it for one, but not the other??

    Re: Grouping in Pivot Tables

Hi boiler2003 and welcome to the forum,

I didn't believe you until I tried what you claimed. You are correct that grouping on sheet2 makes sheet3 change. I got around the problem by doing this.

    1. Creata a name Range of your data, I called mine PivotData. Use this named range on Sheet3
    2. Leave the pivot table range on sheet2 the same.

Then they can have different groupings. I'm thinking that there is a copy of the recordset in memory and if you have a different name for the same data used in the pivot table it creates two separate record sets.

See the attached and look at the Data Source for each pivot table.
