Question Count values in a range that appear for specific dates

First off, hi all and thanks in advance for help on the coming issue, and any that may follow

Attached is the sheet in question, tab1 is going to be in a different workbook to tab2, they are only together so i dont upload too much

So, I would like to be able to see how many times 'Area1' appears in tab2 for yesterday & today (expected is manual user entry for now) and the same for all the areas (2,3,4,5,6,7)
I had initially thought a SUMIF/COUNTIF might do it, but i cant get my head round it.
The second part of my problem, is i need to write a macro/VBA code, attached to a command button to automatically update the info, correctly, so what is today- today, will become yesterday tomorrow, as confusing as that may seem
The cmd button i can do, the refresh Macro/VBA i may be able to do, but getting the info there in the first place i cannot!!

Any and all help will be appreciated.

    Thanks again

OK, update so far, i can get the sheet to show how how many times the set area shows up, im now struggling with showing a total of hours for each area.

this shows me how many times, now all i want is to add up the total hours for each area, so i have attempted to duplicate the formula with

Yet this does not add up the hh:mm accurately.
