Please help with this complicated formula problem

    please see link above first

Here is my problem, i would like to do the following:
I have several different projects with different conditions. I have shown these conditions as old and new and a letter: A, B or C. to the right i have all the combinations: NEW A, NEW B, NEW C etc.
I want to search for the values in the "Field 1" row and pick out the ones that match the specified conditions based on them matching the conditions above each cell. e.g. i want to find all the values in Field 1 row that are NEW and A: THEN i want to get their AVERAGE.
so in real life for this i would write the formula in cell K9 and it would find & average cells B9 and H9 since they match those peramiters.
If anyone can do this i will buy them a beer.

Try this "array formula" in K9

    =AVERAGE(IF($B$6:$I$6=K$6,IF($B$7:$I$7=K$7,$B9:$K9)))

confirmed with CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER and copied across and down

or a "non-array" version to get the same result

    =SUMPRODUCT(($B$6:$I$6=K$6)*($B$7:$I$7=K$7),$B9:$K9)/SUMPRODUCT(($B$6:$I$6=K$6)*($B$7:$I$7=K$7))

Your post does not comply with Rule 1 of our Forum RULES. Your post title should accurately and concisely describe your problem, not your anticipated solution. Use terms appropriate to a Google search. Poor thread titles, like Please Help, Urgent, Need Help, Formula Problem, Code Problem, and Need Advice will be addressed according to the OP's experience in the forum: If you have less than 10 posts, expect (and respond to) a request to change your thread title. If you have 10 or more posts, expect your post to be locked, so you can start a new thread with an appropriate title.
To change a Title on your post, click EDIT then Go Advanced and change your title, if 2 days have passed ask a moderator to do it for you.

PLEASE PM WHEN YOU HAVE DONE THIS AND I WILL DELETE THIS POST
    Hope that helps.
