    Excellent Chart - Help Adapting

    Hi,

I found this amazing chart on the following site:
    HTML Code:
If possible I want to use it for something I am putting together.

the original data only had 5 months - I need to extend this concept to a full 12 months.

I dont know how to add any further months to the chart - when I select data to see where its being picked up from it appears blank - any ideas how?

    Select the chart
    Select Data dialog

The series names are blank but there are multiple series in the left hand list.
Select 1 and edit series. Adjust range used for data values.
    Repeat for all series.
    Cheers

    Hi Andy

So should I click on the series and then adjust the series in the formula bar? Normally I right click the gragh and choose select data

where did you get formula bar from?

Right click series and pick Select Data.
In the Legend Entries (Series) listbox there are 8 entries. All have no series name text. Once the listbox is active the gray bar will turn into the blue highlight bar you normally see in a listbox.

Use the Edit button on each series in turn altering the range reference to extend to column P rather than I.

    Hi Andy

I have managed to do it as you suggested (thank you) however I still have a further issue...

When you click on cells April-August on the graph a red faded shape appears to show the data has been highlighted. How do I extend this for the other months?

The chart has lots of transparent shapes position over it. These in turn run code.

If you use the Selection Pane. Home tab > Editing > Select & Find > Selection Pane, you will see the items.

You need to position correctly, name appropriate, assign relevant existing or new macro and final create new macro code.

    Hi Andy

I have tidied it up through the selection pane feature (never knew it existed till now).

However the red highlight only works for the first few months so there must be code working in the back ground which I need to amend – can you identify which code it is please?

There is more to this that just the shapes and macros.

The 12 monthly macros are already in the workbook so you only need to assign the transparent shapes to the correct macro for the month.

The code will then update the cell G2 on the ChartData sheet.

The red highlighting is done via conditional formatting of merged cells on the Report sheet.

Select cell F3 and check the CF.
This needs to be copied across for all 12 periods.

    Hi Andy

    This is now solved!!

It was the conditional formatting that I had to play around with. Without you suggesting it I wouldnt have thought to look there.

    Thank you!!
