ridding cells of a 0 within sum function

Hi is there a way of hiding athe 0 in a sum function until the sum is executed
I have successfully hidden the N/a message from a lookup functiopn using the if function but nothing seem to work with the sum function and i have about 1000 0s to hide it looks very untidy
    any pointers would be appreciated

    James
