    Menu Greyed Out

I have been using this spreadsheet almost daily. Suddenly, today, its menu has been greyed out. For the life of me, I cannot figure what happened, and what can correct the situation.

Also today, I uninstalled Google Cloud Connect: this speadsheet was stored in my folder on my desktop, as well as on Google Docs. This may or may not be related to the problem.

    Anyone please help? Thanks.

Hi Nssood, welcome to the forum.

Is the workbook either protected or shared (or both)? See the Review tab to see if you can Unprotect or Unshare the workbook.

You open the workbook and click on the Review tab in the Excel Ribbon (toolbar along top of screen). If there is an icon in the Review toolbar that says "Unprotect Sheet", your worksheet is protected. If you see "Unprotect Workbook", the entire workbook is protected. Click those buttons to unprotect one or both. (If they both say Protect _____ then neither is protected.)

Next to the protection icons is the Share Workbook icon. Look at the title bar (at top) of your excel window. If it shows the file name followed by "[Shared]", then your workbook is shared allowing multiple users to make changes. This turns off various functionality within the worksheets/workbook. If it is shared, try un-sharing it and see if your toolbars work.

As a last resort, upload the file here and we can look at it.

I see the Protect Sheet, workbook, and share tabs. However, those tabs are greyed out - I get no response. I have a feeling this is sosimple that I will kick myself, but right now I have to bug you.

Can you upload the workbook? (Delete any personal/confidential information first.)

Can it be uploaded here, or do I send it to you by Skype or email attachment?

Below the Quick Reply area click 'Go Advanced'. Scroll down that screen until you see the Attachments section. Click Manage Attachments.

In the Manage Attachments window, click Add Files, then click Select Files. Browse to your file, select it and click Open. Click the Upload Files button.

You'll then see your uploaded file at the bottom of the Manage Attachments window. Click Done (lower right corner).

Add some text to your post (since a minimum amount is required - no blank posts). Submit reply.

    Re: Menu Greyed Out

    Hi again,

The file may have been saved as an Addin at one point. Try this:

Open the file. Press ALT+F11 to open the VB Editor. In the Project window (should be at left) find the "VBAProject (ProductDB.xlsx)" entry and click the + next to it to expand. Click the + next to Microsoft Excel Objects to expand that branch as well. You should then see all of the sheets and ThisWorkbook listed. Select 'ThisWorkbook'.

In the Properties section below that (if not visible, click View > Properties Window), scroll down to "IsAddin". It says False, but if you change it to True and then back to False all of your worksheets should appear in the workbook again, and the toolbars will be accessible.

Save the file and you should be all set going forward.
