Counting the number of records regardless of the data and blank records

I have tried a few things and well, still not getting what I want the different COUNT functions.

This is what I want to do. I have a series of worksheets that will be updated frequently. Each column has a differenent type of data, some are numbers, some are text, some are both and some are just blank.

I would like to be a to count the number of cells that have data in them regardless whether its a number, text, or both in the cell.

I would also like to count the number of cells that also are blank but I want to be able to do this separately when needed.

    Any help would be appreciated.
