    AutoSum shotcut doesn't work

    Hi,
there is (should be) a shortcut for AutoSum ALT + = (+ENTER). Unfortunately, for some reason it doesn't work for me (Excel 2003). When I use that shortcut, nothing happens, except the cursor moves one cell lower as I press Enter.

Note: I use shortcuts all the time, so it's not the issue of pressing-holding-releasing order. I just don't get it.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Does it work if you run Excel in Safe Mode (press and hold the Ctrl key while starting Excel normally and answer Yes to the prompt)?
    Good luck.

Yes, that's the case. I know Enter is just for confirmation, but I don't have anything to confirm, since nothing appears...

It doesn't work in the Safe Mode either (i don't get any prompt using Run: "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office11\EXCEL.EXE" /s, but it is a Safe Mode).

    Re: AutoSum shotcut doesn't work

I was thinking it might be connected with the regional (Czech) keyboard layout. But it should be only a matter of the "=" key position. I know, where it is (two to the left from backspace). So if "=" itself works, it should work in combination with ALT as well. Strange thing is, 3 of my colleagues don't have this problem, two of us do. I don't see the difference.

If you all have the same settings and keyboards, that should not be an issue. Do you have any software that they don't? Sometimes software that hooks into the keyboard at an operating system level can override application shortcuts (I used to have a screen grab program that took over the f9 key by default).

    Re: AutoSum shotcut doesn't work

Yes, I do have a program like that. I turned it off before I asked the question. But now I realize, the two of us with this issue might be the only one using this software (they are not here right now, so I cannot ask). Looks like I should try this on a fresh restared computer without the application ever launched.
Sorry, need to go, it's my lunchtime now, so I'll be back later. Thanks a lot.

    Re: AutoSum shotcut doesn't work

I restarted my computer, didn't launch the "keyboard enhancing" application, launched Excel in Safe Mode, and the problem is still here. No reaction on ALT+ =. I onfly it didn't work for the colleagues who don't care about the shortcuts at all :-).

I assume the Sigma button on the toolbar does work?

Perhaps you could use Application.Onkey to override whatever is breaking it

You could have Setkey run in the Workbook_Open event of an addin or your Personal macro workbook?

I don't know how to use the Setkey. I, however, assigned a shortcut to DoAutoSum macro and it works! So it still bothers me a little what's wrong with my configuration but this solutions meets my needs perfectly. Thank You very much!

You are welcome. I still suspect some other program is intercepting that shortcut.

Try using the "Alt" key on the left of Space Bar. In my case the left one works and the right doesnot
