Excel 2007 : Accumulated Pump hours

need to figure out the formula to have excel auto calculate accumulated pump hours in one row. What I am after is .......Employee starts shift and enters a pump reading, another employee starts his shift and enters another pump reading and the bottom is will keep a running total of the pump hours earned for that day. Please help

If you mean to calculate the column total, use SUM function.

=SUM(C2:C39)

Or am i missing something???

yeah I want to minus each one of those numbers to get the left over number. so i.e. pump reading for day 1 is 856.20 pump reading for day 2 is 857.20 so yesterday the pump ran 1 hour
