Cell format changes when paste to another worksheet

I have tried many ways of changing formatting to retain the dates in cells when I copy a a column of cells from one sheet to another

I only have problem with one column (column D) when i copy and paste to another worksheet. It does not retain the original dates. It changes the dates to a date that is unusual.

    Any solutions appreciated

    Hello,

works fine for me. What is the "unusual" format that you see when you paste?

    cheers,

    HI teylyn,

it works fine in pasting to a column in same workbook - e.g. into Sample B workbook, but when i paste into a new workbook as attached, it does as shown.

Still, I don't see what the problem is. Can you put it in words? The dates are dates in both files. What's wrong?

Re: Cell format changes when paste to another worksheet

    Hi again,

The dates are dates but the literal date changes. e.g.. first line in Sample A - 22/1/12 and when i paste it it to the second workbook, it changes itself to 23/01/16.

I do not want it to change, I want it to stay true to original date when i paste it

    Hi

You appear to have your setting at the 1904 date system: This gives you a difference of 1462 days.

    Use:

    Tools > Options > Calculation
    Uncheck "1904 Date System"
    OK

    Hope to helps you.
    Regards

    Fotis.
