Validation; keeping top row and grand total row visible

I'm not supposed to alter the physical structure of the report attached, but would like a way to have my grand total line show when I apply my autofilter (in columns 1 and 2), as well as always have the header row show (in case someone doesn't filter but instead scrolls through the report). The report is generated by a macro, so a VBA solution would be acceptable, but it doesn't necessarily have to be. Any help is appreciated.

Select cell A6 and choose Windows | Freeze Panes in Excel 2003 to "fix" the header rows.

To keep the Grand Total row visible, insert a blank row above the Grand Total row before applying the Autofilter.

Freezing the window pane and adding the blank row could be incorporated int the existing macro.

If you want to post the workbook with the macro that creates the report, we can apply teh appropriate amendments.

Thanks, your tip about adding the blank row is what I needed. I already had the freezing of the top row down, just didn't know how to make both visible. I think I can handle the coding myself, just had a conceptual problem.
