Display recent excel files in taskbar

I am currently using window 7. When you left click excel icon in taskbar, it displays recent excel files. But now my excel goes wrong. When I click the excel icon in taskbar, no recent files are shown. Would someone please advise how to enable the display function? Thank you.

hello
i think its on the properties of the task bar, start menu , the check boxes under private..
these will record all the recent opened items.
tell if it works.

vlady, thanks for your reply. Your suggestion does not work for excel, but it works for word.

try the file-option-advanced-display..
"Show this number recent documents" option, should not be 0.

I have tried the excel option and found that the number of recent documents shown is 17. There must be something wrong with my excel.

i also think so.

the option on the task bar should display not only the word files but also excel...

last resort is to reinstall / fix..
but maybe someone in the forum knows about this issue, you can wait or you can try the last resort.
