    Need an Alternative to SumIF

I have a situation where I am pulling multiple sumif's, over 5000, off of a moving pivot table on another sheet. In other words, if the pivot table changes I need the sumifs to see it. This is bogging down my file, calculations take 3 seconds. A couple of questions...

    1. Is there an alternative to sumif that I can use that would save me space?
    2. The range on each of my sumif is 5000 cells, I can probably bring that down to 1000, will that make a difference?

    Thanks for your help,

Re: Need an Alternative to SumIF

    Hi Caliskier,

Alternatives for sumif are SumProduct, Sum with Array functionality etc.. and to reduce the range you can use dynamic name.
Would suggest you to post the sample file and explain what you are looking for. Thanks.

Sumif is one of the more efficient functions... is 3 seconds a lot considering the number of formulas you say you have?
Where there is a will there are many ways.

SumProduct, Sum with Array functionality are not going to be more efficient then SUMIF!

Well, hopefully I can work around it, this is building a report so there won't be a lot of input, but it just runs a little slow. Was hoping that there was a way to speed sumif up. I did reduce the range from 5000 to 1500 and cleaned up a lot of vlookup concantination (&&&) formulas from the pivot table page that were going down to 5000. That made it calculate in 2 seconds, so a little better. Have to use something like SUMIF because I need to stay dynamic. There are 5 things each sumif needs to grab from a pivot table and sum that will reposition themselves from time to time. The sumif needs to move with the pivot table.

The pivot table has a lot of information in it, some of which is not necessary, for the unnecessary stuff i have a macro to delete the sumifs, this is what has got me down to 5000. As information changes I can run the macro to refresh the sumifs where they need to be on my huge output file. I am going to keep working with it, just wondered if there were any functions that were more efficient.
