Resizing Charts While Maintaining Ability to Update them

Hi,

I am working with a line graph. In sheet one, I input data into a chart which automatically generates the line graph in sheet 2. In sheet 3, I'd like to have the chart from sheet 2, but smaller. Here is the problem: the smaller graph does not maintain the proportions of the larger one, the font stays the same size and squeezes my graph. I tried a paste special and pasted it as in image which solves that problem, but then the smaller graph will not adjust when data is updated in sheet one. I need the smaller graph to look exactly proportional to the larger one while maintaining its ability to automatically update. Thank anyone that can help.

Hello TerenceP.

There are 2 different ways you can do this:

1) Don't highlight the chart, but highlight the area around the chart and Copy that.
Then when you paste special, choose Paste Link. Then it will update.

2) There is also different way that you can do this with the camera tool. It is very similar to the paste link option.
Here is a tutorial about finding and using the camera tool. http://www.exceldashboardtemplates.com/?p=778

In either case, you should either expand height and width of one cell and put your chart in there - or - hide the grid lines on the sheet - or - Change the color of the cells around the chart to white.

That way your grid lines won't show up in the chart picture link or camera area.

Please let me know if this helps!

Thanks

Another way, if there is nothing else on that sheet, is to scale the sheet down until the size is what you want? (yeah yeah i know, thats cheating lol)
1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)
