If I enter 02/06/2012 into a date field, it gives me Monday the 6th instead of Tuesday the 7th and all subsequent dates are wrong too. Excel seems to have forgotten about the leap year. Is there a patch?

the date 2/06/2012 is February 6th 2012, which was a Monday.. are you meaning to enter 03/06/2012?

What you've written doesn't make any sense.
02/06/2012 = 02 June 2012 = Saturday (UK Format dd/mm/yyyy)
02/06/2012 = February 06, 2012 = Monday (American Format mm/dd/yyyy)
Why would you expect to get Tuesday the 7th of anything out of that date?

I'm an idiot. It is March now, isn't it. I was so convinced that I was seeing a leap year mistake that I overlooked that I'd entered a February date and expected March days of the week. changing the cell with 02/06 to 03/06 fixes everything.
Hi, I have the same problem. I have been using excel 2002 without any problems. I just did a clean instal of XP home (may be unrelated) and now have this issue after reinstalling microsoft office pro. I have formatted the cell and selected date e.g. 14-Mar-01 and have location set to Australia. I type in a date e.g. 7/3 and get 3-Jul-12 when I want 7-Mar-12. I have also noticed that the sample box in the format cells remains blank. Any ideas?
