    Northwind, the Spreadsheet

    Word has =rand(3,2)
and Access has dear ol' Northwind practice db, both to practice with and not have to enter data
so, I wanted a practice workbook with a nice amount of data

I pulled out the major tables from Northwind 2010 and inserted them into Excel
I wanted NO coding and very little formatting so I could have a virgin ss to work with by mainly copying a worksheet from my Northwind
I see stuff here or other forums or on YouTube I want to try but with a ss I am comfortable with the contents

Any thoughts and as well, additional/or less sheets I should add/subtract to have my "Northwind, the Spreadsheet" to use for practice?

I prefer using stuff from the Northwind db, because the data is NOT confidential, there is quite a lot, and again, I want NO coding or additional formulas for my "template" ss

I guess only you know what you want to practise with and, therefore, what additional data you might want/need.

Seems you have a shed load of data and not much idea what to do with it.

Do you have a specific question?

    Hi,

Seems to me that you've got yourself a useful set of tables to play around with.

One of the first things you might like to try is creating a Pivot Table based on the SalesAnalysis sheet and experimenting with 'dicing and slicing' that data set. If you haven't come across PTs before I guarantee you'll be amazed.

    Re: Northwind, the Spreadsheet

I have indeed been practicing being comfortable with Pivot Tables, etc

My problem I wanted to address was seeing something here on this forum, for example, and wanting to try it with a ss that contained data I understood, and there was enough to practice with

On this fascinating forum, either the questioner or solver does not present a ss, so the solution is just code or a formula that interests me I want to try -- I am amazed at some of the solutions, I confess

This is something I could do with Word or Access fairly easily when I see something
