Saving a file for exclusive access

Is it possible to save an Excel 2010 file so that only a single user has got access to it at a given time. I understand this could be done by means of passwords but I have about 10 people who could be accessing a particular document, but it is really important that whoever is using the document at any given time that no other users can get into the file, even as Read-Only. In other words is it possible to turn the read only access off so that if someone is in the file that absolutely no other user can get any access?

    Thanks.

    Hi feckoffcup,

    welcome to the forum.
I would suggest a slightly different way here.. just keep that file moved (through an administrator) into the respective user's folder over LAN (where no other user will have any kind of access)

    Thanks dilipandey,

I understand your solution - however I cannot get around this using file/folder permissions as the Excel file is essentially a shared document and must reside on a shared folder. When I say 10 people could be using the file each of them at various times work on this file, I just need that when one of them is working on the file that no others can even get read only access, I'm not sure if/how this can be disabled.

    Hi feckoffcup..

All seems to be achievable except :-

no others can even get read only access
You need to think some other way around (out of the box)..
